Baked mushroom loaf [nádivka]

  • 1 loaf day-old bread
  • 1 pint mushrooms, canned
  • 3 whole eggs
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1clove garlic, mashed (optional)
  • ¼ c. butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Milk
Break bread into small pieces and add enough milk to mix well; add the other ingredients. If dry, add more milk to make it almost of pouring consistency. Pour into greased 9 x 13 in. pan and bake in a 350° oven about 1 hour. Variation: Use about 4 ounces fresh mushrooms and chop in a food processor.
